The jewel in the crown, the bulb unit at Design Auto is one of its kind in the country. With the widest range of bulbs being manufactured under one single roof, this semi-automated plant boasts of the machines that consistently deliver quality products, that light up our way. Separate assembly lines have been setup to deliver various kinds of bulbs resulting in one of the largest capacity plant in India.

A future bulb starts taking shape at this stem making machine, with each flare being cut and annealed precisely to retain strength. The stem is turned into mounts on this automated beauty, where each part is added, one by one, neatly and precisely, right upto the filament. The mounts are then fitted into the glass shells made to Design Auto specifications. Argon-nitrogen mixture of Ultra High Purity is filled in and the mounts are pinch sealed, to make sure the gas stays in and the impurities out. Defective bulbs are automatically picked out of the assembly line and rejected. Mandatory checks like Tesla Torch testing ensure that every subsequent process is free of leakages in the bulb. Automated capping machines are a hallmark of Design Auto, being the only one of its kind in the country. And thus is born a bulb that will light a thousand miles, for someone, to reach home safely every night.
